The Hope Heart Institute maintains strict donor information privacy policies. The Hope takes great care to ensure that your information is not compromised by unauthorized persons.
The Hope Heart Institute does not sell, exchange or rent your personal information to any organization or individual. The Hope Heart Institute will not divulge personal information to any other organization or individual other than that necessary to transact, fulfill and or account for online donations. The Hope Heart Institute does not share your information with telemarketing centers. The Hope Heart Institute does not use telephone marketing to solicit funds. The Hope Heart Institute will only use your phone number if we need to verify information or occasionally to thank you for your contribution, ask for your opinion or invite you to a special event.


What information do we collect?

When you make a donation, volunteer or RSVP for an event, The Hope may ask you for your name, address, email address, telephone number, fax number, as well as other relevant information (e.g. hours available to volunteer or a size of T-shirt). When you visit The Hope Heart Institute's Web site, The Hope also collects some non-identifying basic
information from server logs. This include total number of visitors, pages viewed, type of browser you are using (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer), type of operating system you using (e.g., Mac OS or Windows XP, domain name of your Internet service provider (e.g., America Online, EarthLink) and frequently used search words.


How do we use your information?

The Hope Heart Institute uses non-identifying basic information (aggregate data) to analyze site use and to improve the content and deign of the site. On occasion, The Hope may share aggregate data with sponsors, partners and other third-party vendors to encourage fundraising. The Hope Heart Institute uses personally identifiable information you provide about yourself: a) to respond to your questions or comments about The Hope services; b) to fulfill requests to volunteer or conduct a food drive; c) to process your donation, verify your credit card and send you a tax-deductible receipt; d) confirm a donation; e) to thank you; f) to send you additional information about The Hope programs, services and needs that we believe will interest you; g) to protect the security or integrity of the site; h) to protect against a threat of safety or destruction of property; and i) to protect against legal liability. We list donors who contribute $25 or more in our annual report unless you ask that the gift be anonymous. The Hope may disclose to third parties aggregate statistics about donations and volunteers (e.g., total number of donors, total mount of donations for specific periods, average gift size, and total number of volunteers for specific projects or events). These statistics will not include any personally identifying information. A third party handles The Hope's online credit card verification process. This organization needs your name, address, credit card number and expiration date to process your transaction. Its state-of-the-art firewalls and encryption technology offer the highest level of security to ensure the confidentiality of your transaction. The Hope Heart Institute will not use personal information in any way other than described in this policy. The Hope Heart Institute requires employees, agents and contractors who have access to personal information to protect information consistent with this Privacy Policy.

The Hope Heart Institute's online processing system allows you to make safe donations. The Hope uses state-of-the-art firewalls and the latest encryption technology to insure that no one can read your information as it travels to The Hope's donation system. Online forms to volunteer or to sign-up to be on a mailing list, are not encrypted.


No liability

The security measures we take may not prevent all loss, misuse or alteration of information on the site. The Hope Heart Institute is not responsible for any damages or liabilities relating to such security failures. Unauthorized third parties may access data and communications, including email, when communicated via the Internet. The Hope's Web site includes links to other Web sites. The Hope cannot ensure the privacy practices of other such sites.
