The Hope Heart Institute partners with other organizations to expand its education programs to a broader audience. Current and recent partners include:
The Pacific Science Center
Hope Heart Institute and Pacific Science Center partnered to create two informal education programs that engage the public in the science that lies behind healthy heart choices. The two programs are The Heart Cart, a fun set of hands-on activities for small groups of all ages, and The Superhero Makeover Show, a live science demonstration for all ages.
The Heart Cart engages visitors in an investigation of the heart and circulatory system. At the cart, visitors walk through the circulatory system, listen to a snake's heart, or stick their hands into a giant aorta. The aim is to inspire curiosity about how the heart works.
The Superhero Makeover Show puts visitors in the studio audience of a reality TV show. This episode tackles a superhero who's not feeling so super - the condition of her heart has her down. Investigate the lives of superheroes and then help our hero increase the power of her most important pump - her heart.
After Risk! closes, the activities will continue as The Superhero Makeover Show goes on the road, with performances by both Laurie Tiffany, Hope Heart Institute Education Coordinator and Science on the Go!, Pacific Science Center's enrichment outreach program. The Heart Cart will continue at Pacific Science Center and may appear at select Hope Heart Institute educational events.
