Giving Through Estate Planning
Leaving your legacy to The Hope Heart Institute, through your generosity and other individuals like you, will ensure the organization's strength and sustainability for years to come. Our education, outreach, and research programs rely heavily on your gift.
Gift planning often requires help from professional advisors. Unlike cash donations, they are typically made form assets in your estate, rather than disposable income, and come to fruition upon your death. Planned gifts are typically made through naming The Hope as a beneficiary through a will or a trust.
There are several ways to make your planned gift to the Hope :
- Bequest - A bequest is the easiest and most meaningful way to provide to The Hope. You may specific a specific dollar amount or property, a percentage of your estate, or the residual after other designations are fulfilled.
- Beneficiary Designation - You may want to include The Hope Heart Institute as a beneficiary of many different assets like your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other qualified tax retirement plans such as a life insurance policy, commercial annuity contract, bank account or brokerage account.
- Charitable Lead Trust - A charitable lead trust makes payments to the Hope Heart Institute for your lifetime or a specified numbers of years. The remaining assets are either returned to you or distributed to your heirs at the end term of your trust.
Hope advice: We do recommend that you work with a qualified financial and legal advisor who specializes in estate planning. The information provided above are suggestions and are our most common practices of ways to leave your legacy to The Hope. The information above is not intended to replace or give you tax and/or legal advice. Here is our recommended list of specialists that can help you determine the best way to leave your legacy, if you are in need of such.

Estate planning is the process of preparing for disability and death. Typically five or six documents are utilized to create instructions and guidance on how an individual’s affairs will be handled in the event of their disability or death. Preparing an estate plan is rather straight forward. It begins with a consultation with an attorney to evaluate your situation and identify the documents and planning that might be of benefit. Significant estate taxes can also be avoided by proper planning. John Keckemet provides a free consultation to discuss estate planning. Please feel free to contact him.
