Local Men and Women Affected by Cardiovascular Disease

Walk the Runway in Hair and Fashion Show

OCTOBER 20, 2014 (Bellevue, Wash.) – Gene Juarez Salons & Spas, the region’s leading luxury salon and spa collection, presents an evening of beauty, fashion and style at the second-annual Gene Juarez Fall Event benefiting The Hope Heart Institute. This year’s theme is “Live Life Beautifully” and features survivors of cardiovascular disease alongside local community influencers. The Hope Heart Institute is a local non-profit delivering research, education and hope to those who are at risk or been impacted by cardiovascular conditions. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at the Experience Music Project, 325 5th Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109.

“All of us at Gene Juarez are truly committed to wellness and beauty inside and out, and our partnership with the Hope Heart Institute is a great way to bring that belief to life,” said Scott Missad, President and CEO of Gene Juarez Salons & Spas. “‘Live Life Beautifully’ is just one way we’re helping to raise awareness and drive support for organizations like The Hope, and we are excited for this unique event.”

Featured runway models will include ten local men and women who have been affected by cardiovascular conditions. Special runway appearances will also include community members who are championing for others: philanthropist and former First Lady of Washington, Mona Locke; former Seattle Super Sonics coach and community leader, Lenny Wilkens; entrepreneur and artist, Lauren Burman; TV personality and social media maven, Jenni Hogan; Leticia Lucero, local designer and philanthropist and Sheley Secrest, civil rights attorney.

“Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of both men and women in our country, and kills more people than all cancers combined, but the good news is that there is so much we can do to reduce our risk. The Hope focuses on risk-reduction and prevention through nutrition, exercise and wellness education and spreading the word about the importance of being healthy and feeling good from the inside out,” said Cherie Skager, Executive Director of The Hope Heart Institute. “We are thrilled to have such an amazing community partner in Gene Juarez Salons & Spas who embraces Living Life Beautifully by investing in their clients and community.”

The Gene Juarez Artistic Team is choreographing the event, and a color and styling team from each of the ten Gene Juarez Salons will work with a survivor to capture their beautiful life.
