At The Hope, we are grateful for those who support our mission to change the course of cardiovascular disease in our community. Our supporters play a tremendous role in helping us continue our outreach and deliver education programs that are making a difference. This month we share our thanks for the volunteers who are out in the community with us making an impact and to our generous donors, whose support allows us to educate and inspire generational change.
We would like to say a special thank you to the organizations that have provided grants and funding to support our programming this past year.
Family Take Heart – Our goal for Family Take Heart is to provide prevention programs across the generations by connecting two Hope Heart Programs: Teen Take Heart and Women Take Heart. More specifically, we aim to work with the families of the students enrolled in the Teen Take Heart program to better support the skills the teens are learning through this program by involving their families in behavior change via our Women Take Heart program. This concept is based on the emerging scientific literature demonstrating that interventions at multiple levels have the best chance for sustaining healthy behaviors. We are excited to partner with the Renton School District and Valley Medical Center this school year to pilot this innovative program!
Supported by: Dean Witter Foundation, Gilberstson Foundation, The Marco J. Heidner Foundation, Valley Medical Center/Renton Community Foundation
Family Health & Fitness Night – An event to involve parents in their child’s wellness and encourage healthy lifestyle habits. These events are a great way for families to play and learn, connect with other families, and to collaborate with community partners around heart health at their local elementary school.
Supported by: Albertsons/Safeway, Allegro Pediatrics, The Bennett Foundation, Molina Healthcare
Heart Restart – Over the past year we have placed 13 AEDs and equipped more than 500 people with the skills to save a life!
Supported by: Bellevue Rotary, Columbia Distributing, Competition Specialties, Dan and Cari Wall, King County – Community Service areas, Nick Kaschik Foundation, Lenny Wilkens Foundation, Puget Sound Energy, Ram Construction
Teen Take Heart – Teen Take Heart is our latest and greatest science-based health promotion and disease prevention program for high school students. Our demand for this curriculum tool kit exceeds our supply, so we are thankful to the supporters listed below for allowing us to reach more schools and students this year!
Supported by: The Dean Witter Foundation, Puyallup Tribe of Indians, Sharkey Foundation, Verdant Health Commission
Take Heart Luncheon
The Take Heart luncheon was a fabulous success with 275 passionate stakeholders, raising $130,000.00 to improve health outcomes for under-served, at risk, members of our community. We are proud to invest 100% of net proceeds from the luncheon into programs and services for residents of Washington State.
With grateful hearts we thank all those who attended, our sponsors and donors who are equipping individuals with the education, tools and resources needed to improve their cardiovascular health.
